The Poem Gnome Arrives

Poem Gnome appears

Our new friend Pavel appeared in our garden this morning. He was standing, smiling cheerily, among the new moss roses P and I added to our flower garden this weekend. P bent town to take a peek, “Maybe it’s another messenger?” Sure enough there was a letter on the gnome’s back from the Elf on the Shelf’s friend, Pavel.
My main goal is to keep P reading through the summer. So far, the Poem Gnome idea is working. P read the letter that he found rolled up inside Pavel’s “carrier”. Then he started making up poems and songs to leave for Pavel to read. He’s hoping Pavel will appear every day. I happen to know he’ll appear once a week, probably on Sundays or Mondays.
P is currently dreaming up ways to prove the gnome is real or not. Method? Placing him facing one specific direction. If he’s facing a different way, then he really is magical. Another method? Painting his feet black to see if he leaves footprints when we’re not looking. So far Pavel’s been well-behaved, but I’m guessing he’ll get up to a little garden mischief this summer.
