Word-FULL Wednesday

Just to let you know
I posted this on my personal Facebook page on Monday. I had no idea what I was starting! Here are the responses from my friends and family:

  •  Hate that, but I despise it when someone says, “Just to be honest” or “Honestly” because it implies that everything else they say is a lie…
  •  I prefer they give me the info without a preface; I mean, that is why they are speaking to me…isn’t it?

  •  I despise finishing with “Just sayin’.” Obviously, otherwise said persons mouth would be shut.

  • It’s passive.

  • Just so you know, I don’t like it either.

  •  How about FYI??

  • OR! Don’t take offense… Well, you already know offense will be taken and/or your statement is going to suck. SO, either rephrase or don’t say. OR say it and be done. “Hey, dude, you stink.” Much easier.

  • Or how about…..Oh, by the way…..

  •  I totally agree! Another one my husband says that I can’t stand is … “I have a question for you ….”

  • Oh, oh – it’s one I hear a lot.
  • Oh, by the way, just in case you weren’t aware, I heard something interesting today, you’re going to want to hear this, from me to you, I agree. (This one’s from my smart alec brother)

And because I can’t NOT post a Wordless Wednesday post…

Wordless Wednesday Life as a Field Trip

What about you? Do you have anything to add to this list?

  1. Hi Terra. Looks like you got quite a response. I sometimes use some of these terms, but not always. I probably use them more in my writing than in face-to-face conversations. Oh by the way, and FYI, are the ones I use most, but I don’t think I use them very often.

    Have a great day!

    • The funniest thing was when my husband’s 77-year-old Dad came out with it one day. We moaned and groaned so loud, LOL! Where’d he hear that??? I get why people say it, but it just drives me nuts. I’m aware of myself saying “um” too because it’s so meaningless, LOL. Humans are all around pretty funny in what they say.

  2. Yikes, I’m kinda guilty of a couple of those on the list. I suppose it’s a good things your friends and family never converse with me! lol
I’ve nominated you for a Liebster Award. You can read about it on my blog post today Sepember 21 🙂

  3. I love comments that reflect family-isms that are words passed down through ethnic generations. But I have to admit when someone says “yah, but” it makes my teeth itch.
