5 Mustache Birthday Bash Ideas

Mustache Birthday Bash | LIfe as a Field Trip

Our son’s 8th birthday was last week. We don’t usually do a big bash, but this year he got to have his party at Sir Bounce-a-Lot’s, an inflatable place, with 9 of his friends. When I asked him what theme he wanted, he didn’t choose a mainstream character as I expected him to do. He chose mustaches.

I loved it! We both really got into the planning. Obviously, we’re not the first ones to host a mustache party. We found lots of pin-spiration on Pinterest. Here are the touches that made the party mustache-cular!

1. Mustache Straws

We found the templates on Club Chica Circle’s (I totally have a blog crush on Club Chica Circle) post Mustache and Glasses Puffy Paint Window Cling Fun. We didn’t make the window clings yet, but it’s on our list. I think we’ll use them to make Thank You cards after the party. Instead, we cut the mustaches out, laminated them, cut them out again, punched holes in them with a standard hole puncher and poked the straws through.

The day before the party I found packs of mustache straws at the Dollar Tree. I chose to use those instead only because I wouldn’t get a reflection when taking pictures. Priorities!

2. Chocolate Whiskers

Chocolate licorice cut in half made perfect “whiskers” for the goody bags.

3. Mustache Cake

This was definitely P’s favorite party detail. I followed Love Stitched’s instructions, modifying it for use with cake mix and pre-made frosting. If I had more time I would have followed the recipe to the letter. Even though it doesn’t look as professional as the original, it got the job done!

The cake was so long I had to use the longest platter in the house- It’s a good thing P is football fan!

 4. Stick-on Mustaches

As each child arrived they took off their jackets, threw their shoes in the shoe bin, put on a stick-on mustache and took off to bounce in the inflatables.  This was an awesome idea…for a non-active party. The kids sweated them right off in no time!

5. Finger Tattoos

These were my favorite part of the goody bags!

My son and I had as much fun getting ready for this party as we did having the party. Of course the mustache theme was secondary to the inflatables, arcade games and cake, but it was definitely an unforgettable Mustache Birthday Bash!

  1. What a clever idea for a party for a lil guy. I love the way that cake came out. It is too cute! And don’t even get me started about the Target Dollar Spot…I could seriously go broke there. Lol.
