9 Things I Learned from a Rainbow Loom

Paolo Loom bands
Each of those rubber bands has been picked up off the floor at least 26 times so far.
  1. A bracelet made from dozens of tiny rubber bands is still just a giant rubber band to an 8-year-old.
  2. Getting shot with a tiny rubber band doesn’t hurt. Getting shot with a bracelet made of dozens of tiny rubber bands hurts. (see #1)
  3. Though 2400 rubber bands may seem like a lot, in Rainbow Loom Land, it’s only the beginning…
  4. The number of rubber bands you have to pick up off the floor is exponentially proportional to the number of rubber bands actually used in the bracelet.
  5. A vacuüm can easily suck up 137 (approximately) tiny rubber bands at a go. (see #4)
  6. There’s always time to make “just one more, Mom!”
  7. Your child may fall under the influence of the loom. Don’t be surprised if you see your child petting it and saying in a creepy voice, “Precious, my preeeeeecious.”
  8. Thanks to the Rainbow Loom and your minions, er…children,  you can have  freshly made matching bracelets for every outfit.
  9. I’m still an 8-year-old at heart. I must have a Rainbow Loom of my own.

  1. That was hilarious!
Get a loom and give lessons. Curt wants to know how you hook that last rubber band to the first one. He has a bunch of little bands from all the vegetables he buys. 😀

    • His best bet, I’d say, is to look it up on YouTube. Each of the packs of rubber bands comes with “c clips”, little plastic c’s that the rubber bands hook onto to finish up the bracelet. You can also make fancy knots. It’s all there on YouTube 😉

    • Hopefully they use the rubber bands for their intended purpose unlike P…I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been zinged by rubberband bracelets!

  2. Hahahahaha, now that was a hoot! I had no idea such a thing existed and my husband’s head would explode from all those tiny rubber bands. He hates little things on the floor. He gets very worried they will actually break his vacuum (don’t get me started on glitter, he can’t stand it!) I loved the LOTR reference. Happy New Year!

    • I saw that kids were making them with pencils. That’s awesome! I’ll have to try it since my son hardly ever lets me use the loom!

  3. This is so funny and cute. I love how you found joy in playing with the rubber bands and shared some funny facts about them too. Thanks for sharing this with us at Countdown in Style! Don’t forget to stop by Friday to see if you are featured! xo

  4. Thankfully none of my kids are in to this. However, Terra, I can attest to all of these from over Christmas break where my little sister LOVES making those bracelets ~ and shooting them at people. Thanks for sharing and linking up with Countdown in Style! Don’t forget to come back on Friday to see if you were featured!
