“Don’t you like your new car? Aren’t you excited to get it?” My husband asked confused.
Do other people mourn the loss of their old car, even as they slide into the super slick driver’s seat of a new one? I do. Sure, I’ll be glad to have a reliable, roomy, family friendly car. I’ll also miss my trusty, old car. We’ve been driving together for nearly 12 years.
My car wasn’t only a vehicle. She was also a time capsule of memories and experiences.
We tried to learn Spanish in this car.
Do I like my new car? I do. I love it. But even though my old car wasn’t cool or particularly family friendly, my old car was my friend. She was my “Kit”. And I’ll miss her.

Can’t wait to get in and out of your new car…unlike getting in and out of the Saturn!
Now I have to slide down and out of my seat. It’s tough being short 😉
What a surprise to see that you old car had “suicide doors” where a mom could open both at the same time. My favorite car was a red T-Bird with those doors, opera windows and sequential blinking tail lights. Ahh, now that was a car.
I agree with you. A car spends so much with you, that you start talking to it like your best friend.
The T-Bird sounds like a great car!
I just found out that my insurance company has declared my Nissan Crosscabriolet (convertible) a total loss…I am heartbroken. I LOVED that car! It was fun, sexy, beautiful. I feel kind of silly mourning my car. I’m glad someone else feels the same.
