Okay, so it’s really Fat Tuesday, but in Northeast Wisconsin many of us celebrate with the irresistible artery clogger, the Polish Paczki (pronounced punch-key). A friend of mine surprised us at work with a box of these works of edible art this morning. I bit into mine (I went for the chocolate turtle looking one…yum!) and found that there’s no dignified or polite way to eat them. It’s like eating eating BBQ chicken. You just have to dig in with your fingers and go for it.
I’m desperately waiting to hear how it is. One paczki had Reese’s Pieces on top and was filled with peanut butter frosting. Another was custard filled with chocolate frosting on top and the last two were raspberry filled. So far no one has sampled the maple bacon paczki. I’m desperately waiting to hear how it tastes.
Thank you, Jennifer for fattening us up for Lent. Just one of those paczkis will should hold me over for a long time!
