Zesty’s is a delicious way for kids to earn another stamp in their Passports to Green Bay. P earned this passport stamp right away (several times over). We live close to Zesty’s, so close we’re tortured daily by the “Today’s Flavor” sign. Sometimes we start to take it for granted, but it really is a Green Bay standard. Flame-grilled burgers, frozen custard and 50s decor all add up to the perfect summer outing.
Zesty’s celebrated their 25th anniversary this summer which means I’m old enough to remember hanging out there with friends in middle and high school. Teens still meetup there, order a dish of frozen custard and nurse it as long as they can. It’s also the place to stop after soccer and softball games with your family. Why do we love it so much? Not only because of the 50’s feel, but there are low bar stools (perfect for children) at an “ice cream” counter that looks out the window, photos of those few people who managed to wolf down the Zesty’s Custard Challenge and live to have their picture taken, a juke box, kids meals are served in a cardboard classic car (love it), and 50’s decor that lends itself to lots of fun photos. My favorite part? There’s plenty to talk about on a family night out while eating your frozen custard. P especially loves talking about how things were different in the 50’s.
Extra tidbits:
- There are three locations in the Green Bay Area, but our favorite is the original in Allouez on the corner of Libal Street and Greene Ave.
- While you’re there you can also try some regional foods like the perch sandwich, booyah, fried cheese curds, and the brat burger.
- It’s a short walk to Green Isle Park. Get your ice cream and walk to the park.
- Zesty’s has outdoor seating.
- Today’s Flavor can be found on their website www.zestyscustard.com
I’d love to visit Green Bay and take in the sights. Thanks for the tips on a good custard place 🙂
If you ever make it this way shoot me a message.
We were at Sassy Cow when we were in the Madison area. Our favorite place for frozen custard in PA? Definitely Rita’s!
I’ve never been to Sassy Cow….I think I’ll have to check it out the next time we’re in the Madison area!
Sounds like such a fun place to go!
It really is 🙂
I have never been to Green Bay but it is one my bucket list!
You’ll have to let me know if you do end up swinging through!
I knew the people who owned it for a time, The Brosigs. They bought it after the dad Gary, had lost his job and they thought they would try a business of their own. It was a lot of work but they made a go of it because of good customers like you.
I’m really glad they made a go of it. It really added (adds) to the community!
