After four years of subjecting Paolo to nebulizer and inhaler treatments, I finally felt was it was like. I’ve been dealing with a persistent cough for a couple of weeks. I finally gave in and talked with my Doctor today. She had me try a nebulizer treatment in the exam room. It wasn’t long before my heart started racing and my hands started shaking. That was some powerful stuff. The peak flow meter declared the treatment a success, but I felt awful. I couldn’t focus and I was super jittery. It explains a lot about Paolo’s behavior when he needs his inhaler. I’m glad to know something of what Paolo experiences, but in a way, I wish I didn’t know. It’ll make it that much harder to give him his medicine next time.
Luckily it turned out that I mainly suffered from childhood asthma; I rarely (maybe once every 3-4 years) have to use my inhaler. But I well remember how it felt after using my inhaler and it was exactly as you described. I made the mistaken of taking my inhaler preemptively (I was a WEE bit stressed) before my ACTs and it was the worst thing I could have possibly done. Try filling in those little circles with jittery hands! Anyway….hope you’re on the mend.
Oh no! ACTs are bad enough. I hope to be on the mend soon! Thanks for your concern.
