Val-entine’s Day Craft

My friend Val comes up with the best ideas. Last week it was cheesehead crafts with yellow sponges. This week it’s homemade puffy paint. This is definitely a kitchen craft. It was pretty messy, though containable.

Paolo really enjoyed mixing it up, first with a spoon, then with his hands. He swirled, squished and splatted the heck out of that puffy paint. By his calculations we should have made a gallon. I was on damage control, hovering with the sponge and a towel.

In the end, Paolo made a nice valentine for Grandma and Grandpa and our hands smell really good (even if they are a little pink).

Val’s Puffy Paint recipe:

  • 1/2 cup white glue
  • 1/2 cup shaving cream
  • a few drops of food coloring (we used red)
  • cardstock (we cut them into hearts)

Happy Painting!
