Lewis & Clark Summer Expedition: Week Ten

Lewis & Clark Summer Expedition {Life as a FIeld Trip}

We did it! Week ten is our wrap up week. We actually finished our ten-week Lewis and Clark Summer Expedition in September. I have (ahem) been, er, hard at work polishing up this post. Ahem. Originally we were going to do something related to the Lewis & Clark expedition’s time in Oregon and Washington, but we found ourselves looking at our own summer expedition experience as a whole: what we did, what we learned and where we went.

Reading

Choose one or two of these reading activities:

  • Play the National Geographic Go West Across America Game again. See how you do in comparison to the first week.
  • Read about the expedition’s return trip here.
  • Read about Fort Clatsop, how they chose the location, built the fort and spent the winter.

Print or buy a map of your city, county, or state. If you’ve been particularly busy, get out a map of the country. With stickers or a marker, mark all the places you journeyed to during these ten weeks so you can see the scope of your own expedition. Pretty cool, right?

Now write about your favorite part of the Lewis & Clark Summer Expedition in your journal. Did you think you covered so much ground? Or did you stay pretty close to home? Would you do it again?

Wisconsin Map

We had a great time spreading out the map and lying on the floor putting stickers on it. It was cool to remember where we went and what we did all summer.

“Remember the time you fell in the river?”

“I wish the storm hadn’t happened and we could have camped all weekend.”

“Remember the fur trader obstacle course?!”

We covered a lot of miles, but we still have a lot of the state to explore. Maybe next summer we’ll do it all over again!

See you on the trail,Terra @ Life as a Field Trip
