Influenster 101

Though I received the products mentioned in this post from Influenster. The opinions are my own.

Influenster Sargento

Ever wonder what that Influenster is, anyway? Check out their About page for their explanation here.

Here’s how it works:

You register for Influenster and wait to be selected to receive a VoxBox.

Your VoxBox arrives and it’s like Christmas. My first VoxBox, the Jolly VoxBox, really was like Christmas since it arrived during the holiday season. It had chocolate, makeup, puffs, and Duck Tape minis.

Once you receive your VoxBox of goodies you start working on your badges and challenges. You sample the products they sent you. Then you share on Facebook, Twitter, Vine, Instagram and your blog about those products.

When the campaign is over, you fill out a hella long survey and pat yourself on the back for a job well done.

My second VoxBox was from Sargento

One of the challenges was to take a photo while shopping for Sargento Ultra Thins.

Another challenge was to create a Pinterest board and pin recipes for use with their products.

My favorite challenges were recipe related.

Influenster Life as a Field Trip

I never claimed to be a food photographer…

This curried egg salad with Sargento Ultra Thin mild cheddar (my own concoction) was a winner. I made it a few times. I also really liked the smoked turkey pepper jack roll ups recipe I found on Sargento’s recipe page. Nice and spicy. What I liked best about Sargento’s Ultra Thins though is that you treat yourself to a little bit of cheese on almost anything without sacrificing your health.

Influenster must have more than just market research in mind. They certainly benefit from “free” publicity using social media and the VoxBox es can’t help but influence the Influenster campaign winners to like new products.

And you know what? It works. I think I like some of the products I reviewed better than I did before. I actually bought mascara (Rimmel) that I’d never purchased before because of the VoxBox. I certainly look at pre-sliced cheese differently. I used to roll my cart right by those convenience cheeses. And I ate almost all the Easter eggs we colored, thanks to Sargento. Now I’m looking forward to the next VoxBox to see what exciting new products I get to try.
