Embrace Winter: Ways to thrive not just survive this winter

In my family, instead of fighting winter we try to embrace it. We get out there and make the most of the season. This year, all winter long I’ll share ideas for short winter field trips to make the snow and cold a little more fun. My hope is we’ll convert a few of you as you read about our winter outings.

Ice, Ice, Baby.

Find some ice and slide! Ice skating rinks are nice, but they require planning and ice skates.  Who has time for that?

Bundle up and look for big frozen puddles. Make sure you and your kids are wearing snow pants so they can slide, skid and move without (you) worrying about being cold or wet. And – this is essential – make sure YOU slide too. It’s fun, it counts as exercise, and I guarantee it’ll put a smile on your face.

We found our puddles at the park this morning. Naturally P thought it would be best to ride his scooter there. Here are a few shots from our ice-sliding field trip this morning:
